PCU RN Job in Tucson, Arizona

BUMC Tucson is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work three 12-hour night shifts weekly on a flexible assignment that spans two campuses located approximately 10 minutes apart.

About the Role

You will provide direct patient care across Adult Health units including Observation, Med-Surg, PCU, and Intermediate Care. Depending on census and operational needs, you may float to the Emergency Department or PACU to support inpatient care. Your responsibilities include:

• Assessing patients across physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning dimensions
• Reviewing patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; reporting abnormal findings to physicians and care team members
• Developing and implementing individualized plans of care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Delegating and supervising licensed and non-licensed healthcare team members
• Evaluating patient and family responses to care and adjusting plans as needed
• Documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and facility education programs

Requirements

You must hold a current, valid RN license in Arizona. A minimum of one year of acute care experience as an RN in the specialty area is required, with experience within the past 12 months. Level I Trauma and large hospital experience is required. BLS certification is mandatory. A Bachelor's degree and professional certification are preferred.

Physical Demands

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and stretching. You may be required to lift up to 75 pounds.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,632 for the 12-week assignment beginning August 24, 2026.
