Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Work on an Adult/Geriatric Med Surg Telemetry unit with a daily census of 24 patients and 20 rooms
• Shift options include 8 and 10-hour shifts with 40 guaranteed hours per workweek, three 12-hour shifts with 36 guaranteed hours per workweek, or four 12-hour shifts with 48 guaranteed hours per workweek
• Patient ratios of 1:5/6 on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Floating within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital is 100% required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required (screened at 1.5 years)
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local Indiana residents are not accepted for this position
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Charting system: Cerner (preferred experience)
• Scrub color: Red top and black pants
• Free parking available
• Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Preferred experience with patient diagnoses including thoracentesis, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CVA, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, weakness, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tubes, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry remote monitoring, PCA, PICC line management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, colostomy/ileostomy management, and insulin administration
