PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with two shift options: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday shifts as needed to meet unit needs
• Unit schedulers will create traveler's schedule
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 with CNA support at a 1:10 ratio
• 33-bed stepdown unit serving young adults through geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex medical issues including multisystem failure
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin
• Must read and interpret telemetry/monitor strips independently
• RT equipment includes BiPAP and Airvo
• May float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed
• Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue
• Orientation includes first week of classroom training followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts on the floor
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
