Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Oncology Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with available shift times of 7:00 AM-7:00 PM and 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement with self-scheduling available
• Unit is a mixed PCU, Oncology, and Med/Surg level of care on a 27-bed unit
• Daytime nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 for PCU and 1:5 for Med/Surg; nighttime ratio of 1:5-6 patients
• Patient population consists of adults with oncology and trauma diagnoses
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; PCU and oncology experience preferred
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Common drips and medications include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs required to titrate insulin and cardizem occasionally
• Competencies in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000), and ICP monitoring required; on-the-job training available
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), ONS/ONCC
• Charting system: EPIC; IV pumps: Alaris
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Float assignments to same level of care Med/Surg and PCU units
• Nursing assistant support, charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social work, educator, and dietician available on unit
• Specialty equipment includes Lyko lifts in even rooms and additional lift equipment available
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Up to 4 shifts may be cancelled per 13-week assignment
