PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work on A 4 West Adult Med Surg unit, located on the 4th floor
• Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, and 1 Huc
• Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge nurse, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1 Huc
• Patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-6, Night shift 1:5-7
• 34-bed unit
• Perform typical procedures including IV fluids, tube feeds, PEG feedings, and IV antibiotics
• Must possess telemetry rhythm capabilities, critical thinking, and time management skills
• Must be able to assess med-surg level patients and alert Charge RN, Manager, Rapid Response, or Provider when acuity changes
• Float to other med-surg units and occasionally to the holding pod of the ED
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per pay period required
• Attend huddles at 6:50 AM for day shift or 6:50 PM for night shift
• Must clock out and in for meal breaks
• Must clock in no earlier than 6:38 AM or 6:38 PM depending on shift
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• EMR system: Cerner
• Required certification: BLS
• Preferred certification: ACLS
• Strong communication skills and punctuality required
• Team player mentality with willingness to assist CNAs and fellow nurses
