About this role
Albany Medical Center is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join our Radiation Oncology department. In this role, you will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist, playing a critical part in cancer treatment delivery.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances according to treatment protocols
- Operate high-voltage machinery safely and accurately, including Varian Truebeam and Varian 21ix equipment
- Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record
- Interpret computerized treatment plans and ensure precision in delivery
- Observe patients daily for reactions and immediately report any adverse effects to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or Radiation Oncologist
- Facilitate complex problem-solving regarding technical issues with equipment
- Adhere strictly to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols
- Communicate promptly to pertinent personnel when equipment malfunctions occur
Required Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Radiation Therapist in New York State
- ARRT certification
- Satisfactory completion of a training program in Radiation Therapy Technology from an AMA-approved school
Position Details:
This is a 13-week contract position working 5 days per week, 8-hour day shifts. You will earn $2,956 weekly. Your start date is July 6, 2026. This role offers you the opportunity to work in a respected medical center while delivering essential cancer care to patients in the Albany community.
