Med Surg RN Job in Phoenix, AZ

You will work as an RN on a Med Surg unit at St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. This is a 91-day contract beginning July 27, 2026, with 3x12 hour day shifts per week at $2,125.44 weekly.

Shift and Scheduling

• 12-hour day shifts
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4 weeks (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday shifts required based on unit coverage
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Self-scheduling in 4-week blocks

Patient Care Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Common diagnoses: post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infection
• Heparin drip titration required; no cardiac drips
• Floating required to other Med Surg and telemetry areas; travelers float first
• Respiratory therapy assigned to the unit
• Resource RN and charge RN utilized in place of PCTs

Requirements and Qualifications

• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Recent Med Surg experience required
• Charge nurse and telemetry experience preferred
• No first-time travelers
• Pass dysrhythmia exam prior to start (2 attempts allowed)
• Pass orientation exam on day 1
• Complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail)
• BLS (AHA) certification required

Orientation and Support

• 2 orientation shifts with a preceptor
• House Supervisor available 24/7
• Manager available Monday through Friday
• Charting system: Cerner

Dress Code and Appearance

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Natural hair color required
• No facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit test
• Own vehicle required
