Med Surg RN Job in Phoenix, AZ

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical-Surgical unit at St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 27, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,333.

Schedule & Staffing

• 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday shifts required based on unit coverage
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Self-scheduling available 4 weeks at a time
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5

Experience & Qualifications

• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Recent Medical-Surgical experience required
• Charge nurse and telemetry experience preferred
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required

Pre-Placement & Orientation Requirements

• Pass dysrhythmia exam prior to contract acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Pass orientation exam on day 1
• Complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail)
• 2 orientation shifts with a preceptor provided

Clinical Role & Duties

• Common patient diagnoses include post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infection
• Heparin drip titration required; no cardiac drips
• Floating required to other Medical-Surgical and telemetry areas; travelers are first to float
• No telemetry monitoring on unit, but telemetry experience preferred due to floating needs
• Respiratory therapy assigned to the unit
• Resource RN and charge RN utilized in place of PCTs

Unit Support & Systems

• House Supervisor available 24/7
• Manager available Monday through Friday
• Charting system: Cerner

Dress Code & Appearance Requirements

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Natural hair color required
• No facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit test
