Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
• Holiday requirement includes 2 summer holidays and 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Unit has 25 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Common diagnoses include elective joint replacements, spine/neuro surgery, and fractures
• Must be willing to jump in and help wherever needed in a fast-paced unit with high daily patient turnover
• Neuro or orthopedic experience is a bonus
• Heparin is the most likely drip encountered; RNs must be able to titrate as needed
• Low volume of RT equipment on the floor; RNs are required to troubleshoot only
• Centralized telemetry monitoring; must be able to identify rhythms and respond appropriately to telemetry alerts
• Nurse aides and patient care techs are available on the unit; they complete hourly rounds, direct patient care, vitals, glucose checks, and assist with ambulating and mobilizing patients
• Self-scheduling available; staffing maintains the right to adjust shifts before finalization to meet department needs
• Expected to float to other med-surg/telemetry areas as needed
• Scrub color requirement: galaxy blue
• 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required
