Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Every other weekend required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• First time travelers accepted
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
• Block schedule accommodations will be attempted but are not guaranteed
• Float required to MS, ICU, and ED - if floating to ICU or ED, will care for Med/Surg level patients or serve as helping hands and will not practice outside of scope
• Day/Evening patient ratios are 5:1 (stretch 6-7); Night ratios are expected to be 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Patients are adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including cardiovascular conditions and wounds
• Unit has 20 beds with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
• PCTs on all units assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• Mandatory competency with phlebotomy and placing IVs required
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, peripheral line care and management, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
• Special equipment includes Hoyer lifts and wound vac
• Scrubs: Navy blue and/or white
• Orientation: 4-hour classroom session with educator, modules completed prior to start, remainder of the 12-hour shift spent orienting on the unit
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• New York state nursing license required
