Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

• Day shift schedule with every other weekend required
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• 36 or 48 hours available per week
• Self-scheduling model in place; manager will work to accommodate preferred schedule but cannot guarantee it
• Work across all units within the children's hospital including NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics
• Must have Level 4 NICU experience
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Provide respiratory therapy care for patient age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Perform and assist with high-risk deliveries, intubation assist, extubation, bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care and management, and neonatal transports
• Administer aerosol treatments, inhaled medications, and manage various respiratory conditions including ARDS, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Operate and manage advanced equipment including Bubble CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), high frequency jet ventilator, high frequency oscillator, oscillating ventilator, and Nitric Oxide (iNO)
• Must be competent in use of both the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
• Interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) and perform sputum specimen collection
• Work within a multidisciplinary team requiring strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Epic experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, RRT, and Virginia State License
• PALS and ACCS preferred
• Virginia license pending accepted provided a temporary license can be obtained before start date; must hold another state license to be eligible for temporary license
