RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with both day (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) and night (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) options available
• Rotating shifts will not occur more than weekly
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• First to float when needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5, with occasional 1:5-6 on nights; PCU level care overflow ratio of 1:3
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, Covid BiPAP, general surgical patients with cardiac history, pneumonia, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis
• Required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, and Lasix
• Required to read and interpret cardiac strips independently
• Work with BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo respiratory equipment
• Floating requirements include all areas as helping hands, PCU for full patient load, med/surg for full patient assignment, and some ER holds/boarding
• 2 orientation shifts of 12 hours each during the first week
• Charting system: EPIC (preferred but not required)
• PCU experience required; comfortable with first-time travelers
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Any color scrubs permitted
• 32-bed unit with charge nurse present on both shifts
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available with a goal ratio of 1:10
• Telemetry portable monitors, in-room monitors, and a monitoring tech at the nurses station available
