PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Schedule is managed through a 6-week self-assisted schedule via Optilink, distributed based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• Must have Cardiac PCU experience and be comfortable with 1:5 ratios
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise 1:5
• Nurse Assistants available 24/7; RN secretary available 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
• Use of Rapid Response Teams preferred
• Primary focus on cardiac patients including Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac catheterization with and without intervention, rule out myocardial infarction, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, management of cardiac drips (no titration), management of vasoactive drips (no titration), procedural sedation administration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Travelers may be floated to any campus within the health system as needed
