Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 4x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:6 standard, may flex to 1:7 in the event of an unplanned absence
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required on a PRN low census basis
• Float required between med surg units as needed
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
• SC license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start
• Required certification: BLS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting experience required
• Scrub color: Royal Blue

• Required skills include: Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Insulin, and Rapid Response
• Additional skills include: Accessing/Managing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Chest tubes, Colostomy/ileostomy management, CVA care, Feeding tube care, Heparin, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Management of dysrhythmias, Nasal Cannula, PCA, Peripheral Line Care, PICC line management, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Pre/Post neurosurgery, Renal failure, Starting and maintaining IVs, Surgical drains, Tracheostomy care, Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as diabetes, renal disease, hypertension, CAD, stroke, chest pain, and altered mental status
• All patients eligible for telemetry monitoring managed by monitor techs in a central location
• Telemedicine equipment used on unit; instruction will be provided
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
