Operating Room RN Job in Lake Charles, LA

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel position in the Operating Room at CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This is a full-time day shift role working 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, five days per week. The assignment runs for 91 days, beginning August 10, 2026.

About the Role

You will provide perioperative nursing care across a diverse range of surgical cases and patient populations, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. You will work independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant clinical aspects of patient situations. Your responsibilities include assisting with and performing care for multiple surgical specialties, including:

• Pain procedures (injections, Kyphoplasty)
• ENT surgeries (ear tubes, tonsils, sinus, thyroid)
• Urology cases (cysto, TURP, PCNL, Lithotripsy, robotic sacrocolpopexy, partial nephrectomy)
• Gynecology procedures (total lap hysterectomy, ablations, laparoscopic gyn, D&C)
• Podiatry
• General surgery (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair)
• Orthopedic cases (hip pinning, knee scope, shoulder scope)

Note: L&D is a separate unit; this position does not include cesarean sections or deliveries.

Your Core Duties

You will utilize the full nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for assigned patients. You will administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols, monitor for side effects and effectiveness, and document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. You will address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families, assess learning needs, and provide education to patients and caregivers. You will make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed.

Requirements

Current RN license required (state of employment or compact license). BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA) certifications required. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is preferred. Minimum one year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,482.
