Operating Room RN Job in Castro Valley, CA

Sutter Health Eden Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in Castro Valley, CA. This is a 91-day travel assignment on a 4x10 evening shift schedule, offering $2,696 weekly pay.

Role Overview

You will plan, manage, and coordinate professional nursing care for surgical patients in the operating room. Your responsibilities include scrubbing or circulating surgical cases, directing and supervising ancillary nursing personnel, and collaborating with all members of the surgical health team. You will maintain AORN standards of professional nursing practice while working with patients undergoing General, Ortho, Vascular, Trauma, and Neuro surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized care and treatment in the operating room setting
• Scrub or circulate surgical cases as assigned
• Maintain accurate charting in Epic
• Handle emergency and crisis situations with composure
• Work on-call shifts as needed and every other weekend
• Manage exposure to bodily fluids and substances inherent to the OR environment

Requirements

• Valid California RN License
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; 3+ years preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CNOR, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred

Work Environment

This position involves OSHA Risk Category I (High Risk) exposure and requires you to work in varying and unpredictable situations. You will care for adult and geriatric patient populations. You must be comfortable making fine discriminations in sound and responding to the demands of a busy surgical environment.
