PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with day shift hours of 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM and night shift hours of 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with 1:3 ratio for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Care for patients requiring intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients, including those with cardiac and vascular diagnoses such as CVAs, CHF, A-fib RVR, and cath lab patients
• Unit heavily supports thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart programs
• Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, Cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit has remote tele techs with hardwired and tele box capabilities
• Work with respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and Nasal Cannula
• Float to units of same level and lower acuity as needed
• Chart using EPIC system
• Wear Navy Blue scrubs
• 1 year of experience with this patient population required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must pass an open book orientation exam with a minimum score of 90%
• BSN not required
• Active Nebraska RN license required
