Pediatrics RN Job in San Antonio, TX

Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, TX is seeking an RN for a 13-week contract position on a 24-bed pediatric unit. You will work the night shift, 3 days per week (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.), with an every-other-weekend requirement.

Role Overview

As an RN on this unit, you will provide direct patient care with ratios of 3:1 or 4:1 depending on acuity. Night shift staffing consists of 1 charge nurse, 4–8 RNs based on census, and 1–2 PCT/UCs. You will work with complex equipment and manage high-acuity pediatric patients requiring specialized interventions.

Equipment and Procedures

You will manage equipment including:

• Trachs and home ventilators
• Feeding pumps
• Central lines
• Chest tubes
• Syringe pumps
• High Flow Nasal Cannulas

You will perform central line care and High Flow Nasal Cannula management as part of your daily responsibilities.

Requirements and Experience

You must hold current BLS and PALS certifications. High Flow Nasal Cannula experience and trach/home ventilator experience are required for this position. Floating to other units may occur, including Children's Tower (Pedi Surgical, ED holds, NICU, and Pedi Hem/Onc).

Work Environment

The facility uses the Meditech EMR system. Navy blue scrubs are required as part of the dress code. The ideal candidate is flexible, positive, and team-oriented with strong communication skills.

Compensation and Duration

Weekly pay is $1,651. The contract runs for 13 weeks, with a start date of October 13, 2026.
