ICU RN Job in Kearney, NE

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 91-day travel assignment in their 33-bed Intensive Care Unit. You will work three 12-hour shifts per week, with day shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Every other weekend is required, with weekends defined as Saturday and Sunday. Self-scheduling is available within the core staff schedule, though block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Unit Overview

The unit maintains an average daily census of 16 patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3. You will care for patients with diagnoses including trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose and substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent placement, pacemaker insertion, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitor equipment with tele tech oversight
• Manage respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• Float to PCU or Med-Surg as needed with typical ratios of 1:4 or 1:5

Support and Resources

Nurse aides are available based on census. A Healthcare Support tech is on-site three days per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You will receive one shift of unit-specific orientation. Charting is performed in EPIC. If placed on call and called back in, you must be able to arrive within 30 minutes.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Valid driver's license at time of submission
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• BSN is not required
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments

Minimum of 2 holidays are required within the contract period. Start date is October 12, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,359.
