About this role
St. Josephs Hospital – BayCare Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Transport position in Tampa, FL. You will provide direct patient care during helicopter and ground ambulance transports, managing neonatal and pediatric patients with complex acute conditions.
Position Details:
- Schedule: 3x12 nights, 91-day contract, with 6 shifts per 6-week weekend requirement
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Daily volume: approximately 4–8 transports per day
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
Requirements:
- Current RN license (Florida or compact)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Helicopter and ambulance transport experience (mandatory)
- Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS
- Must pass EKG exam (3 attempts allowed)
Clinical Skills Required:
- Anti-seizure medication administration
- Airway management: assist/manage intubation, suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Central line blood draw and placement assistance
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and oxygen delivery management
- Hypothermia protocol
- ABG interpretation
- Chest tube and NG tube insertion and management
- Pediatric dosage calculations and IV therapy
- PICU transport protocols
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Broselow system use
- Urinary and umbilical catheter insertion and management
- TPN and lipid management
Patient Populations:
You will care for neonates and pediatric patients with conditions including prematurity, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), hyperbilirubinemia, asthma, appendicitis, and other acute pediatric diagnoses.
Compensation:
Weekly pay: $2,265.41
First-time travelers are accepted. You may float within the hospital as needed. Start date: August 3, 2026.
