About this role

St. Josephs Hospital – BayCare Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Transport program in Tampa, Florida. This is a 91-day travel assignment working 3x12 night shifts at $2,479 per week.

Position Overview

You will provide critical care transport for neonatal and pediatric patients via helicopter and ground ambulance. This is a 1:1 patient ratio role with an average daily census of 4–8 transports. You'll manage acute pediatric conditions including prematurity, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), hyperbilirubinemia, asthma, appendicitis, and respiratory distress.

Requirements

  • Current RN license (Florida or compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Helicopter and ambulance transport experience (required)
  • Active BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications
  • Ability to pass EKG exam (3 attempts allowed)
  • Cerner charting experience preferred

Key Skills & Responsibilities

  • Manage intubation and extubation; interpret arterial blood gases
  • Administer anti-seizure medications and procedural sedation
  • Operate high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and manage hypothermia protocols
  • Insert and manage central lines, NG tubes, urinary catheters, and chest tubes
  • Perform ETT and NT suctioning; manage TPN and lipid infusions
  • Draw central line labs; perform pediatric dosage calculations
  • Use Broselow system for pediatric resuscitation
  • Initiate and maintain peripheral and central IVs

Schedule & Details

You will work 3x12 night shifts with a weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week cycle. First-time travelers are welcome. Staff wear royal blue scrubs. You may float within the hospital as needed.
