Job Details:

• Scrub and circulate roles both preferred across 16 operating room suites, with 12-14 rooms running routinely
• Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with an expectation of turnovers in less than 20 minutes
• Patient ratio of 1:1 in a 16-bed unit
• On-call schedule includes up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per 13-week contract
• Weekend call schedule runs from Friday at 5:00 PM through Monday at 6:30 AM
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• Float across all campuses as required
• Scrubs are provided
• Work with specialized equipment including 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma
• Service lines include cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplants, ENT, and plastics
• 24 months of current operating room experience required
• Circulating and operating room experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Experience in general surgery, Da Vinci robotics, pediatrics, and trauma cases required
• Additional experience in neurology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular highly preferred
• EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; Trauma Level II experience required
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months - no first-time travelers
• Skills checklist specific to Operating Room Nurse (scrub/scrubbing) required
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
