Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Night shift position with 36 or 48 hours accepted per week
• 13 to 26 week contracts accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6 on a Neuro unit focused on general medicine with a neuro specialty
• Weekend requirement of 5 to 6 shifts per contract period, equating to every other weekend
• Maximum of 7 days of pre-approved time off; no RTO during first week and no additional RTO after signing
• Float requirement applies; travelers float first within or near the facility
• Manager sets the schedule using block scheduling
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required skills include CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, Med/Surg, peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs, telemetry, and non-invasive airway management
• Neuro experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred; willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred
• Unit systems include Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary
• Must demonstrate a teamwork approach to patient care with a focus on patient safety
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
