Opportunity:

RN - Orthopedics

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts required
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Block scheduling option available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday schedule)
• Every other weekend required; if RN calls out on a weekend, the shift must be made up on a weekend
• Patient ratio of 5-6:1, with flexibility up to 7:1 only in extreme cases
• Float requirement: may be required to float to any other med-surg unit within the facility based on census needs
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with orthopedic work experience mandatory
• First-time travelers accepted with Epic charting system experience
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Required skills: IV starts and telemetry
• Additional skills expected: blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, peripheral nerve block catheters, PCA management, surgical drains, total joint replacement, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury care, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP management, heparin protocols, ortho trauma, neuro spine post-surgical patients, and experience with hip and trauma hips
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients
• Fast-paced unit requiring nurses to stay on top of pain management for ortho and spine patients
• Multiple pain medications administered due to high post-surgical and ortho population
• Strong customer service orientation required
• Preferred experience: charge nurse experience and Level I trauma experience
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Maximum of 7 days RTO; no holiday RTO approved
• Up to 7 days RTO auto-approved (excluding holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No RTO permitted during first week of assignment
• All RTO must be pre-approved and cannot be requested after signing
