RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Night shift position with 36 or 48 hours accepted per week (overtime not billed until after 48 hours if on 48-hour schedule)
• This is a Neuro unit with a focus on general medicine and neurological patient diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
• 13 to 26 week contracts accepted
• Weekend requirement of 5 to 6 shifts per contract (approximately every other weekend)
• Maximum of 7 days of pre-approved time off; no RTO during first week of contract
• Float requirement applies - travelers float first within or near the facility
• Manager-scheduled, block scheduling type
• 24-hour unit orientation
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Patient age groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Unit census: 24 beds
• Documentation and systems: EPIC, Pyxis, SBAR
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required skills include: CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, Med/Surg, telemetry, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care/management, and starting and maintaining IVs
• Preferred experience: NIH stroke scale, neuro experience, and charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the charge nurse role
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Teamwork approach to patient care and strong focus on patient safety required
• Strict call-off policy strongly enforced
