PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as an RN in Mission Hospital's Progressive Care Unit (PCU), a 39-bed combined step-down and medical-surgical unit. This is a backfill travel position running 91 days, starting November 16, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• $2,102.40 weekly
• Required to work 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts within each 6-week period

Your Role

You'll provide direct nursing care across step-down (23 beds, 1:3–4 ratio) and medical-surgical (16 beds, 1:4–6 ratio) patient populations. Your responsibilities include tracheostomy care, chest tube management, wound dressing changes, and monitoring stable ventilated patients. You'll manage equipment including lifts, cardiac drips, and ventilators.

Unit Staffing

• Night shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 PCTs
• Day shift: 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 PCTs

Requirements and Experience

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Required tracheostomy experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certification
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Strong flexibility and clinical competence

Expectations

You may float to other medical-surgical and progressive care units as needed. Navy blue scrubs are required per facility dress code.
