PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wilmington, NC

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, caring for patients with cardiac diagnoses and post-procedure recovery needs.

Schedule and Hours

• 3x12 night shifts: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (36 hours per week)
• Weekend coverage required: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Float assignments as needed at unit discretion

Clinical Requirements and Responsibilities

• Minimum 2 years cardiac experience required; first-time travelers accepted with cardiac background
• Manage patients with cardiac diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, Aortic stenosis/regurgitation, Mitral Regurgitation/Stenosis, Endocarditis, Cardiomyopathy, PVD, PAD, Vasculitis, Carotid stenosis, and Venous stasis
• Support post-procedure care for CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, Carotid endarterectomy, FEM-POP bypass, Post cath, Post DCCV, Post electrophysiology, and Pacemaker placements
• Demonstrate competency with Cardiac Telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Chest tubes, Sheath Removal, Titration of Cardiac drips, and Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care
• Operate specialized equipment: Doppler, Bladder scanner, EKG, Femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, Chest tubes, and Epicardial Pacing Wires
• 24-hour unit orientation provided

Required Certifications and Skills

• BLS and ACLS required
• NIHSS preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Epic charting experience preferred; system also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication
• Med/Tele/Step-down experience preferred

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy blue pants and white top
• Contract staff assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
• No more than 7 days RTO accepted; no RTO during first week of contract
