RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Must be flexible with weekend requirements based on unit needs; travelers must be able to work 50% of weekends during their contract (12 weekend shifts per contract)
• Must agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow while on assignment
• Patient ratios: 1:5 days, 1:5-6 nights and weekends
• Self-scheduling unit
• Float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, ostomies, hernia repairs, skin flaps, significant wounds, and surgical drains
• Perform and assist with special procedures including surgical tubes and drains, TPN, and tube feeds
• Skills required: blood product administration, heparin, insulin, isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care/management, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required pending operational needs with training and resources provided; previous charge experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
