Med Surg RN Job in Fort Wayne, IN

Join Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne as a Med Surg RN on a 13-week travel assignment. You will work nights from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a 3x12 schedule, with every other weekend required. This is a higher-acuity med-surg unit serving post-op neuro and spinal surgery patients, Level 2 and Level 1 Trauma post-ICU patients, as well as stroke and general post-op cases including DKA and renal failure diagnoses.

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 on a 24-bed unit
• Perform expert neuro assessments and critical thinking in post-surgical care
• Manage drains, chest tubes, and groin sites post-interventional radiology
• Float to other med-surg or telemetry units as needed

Schedule & Hours

• Guaranteed 72 or 96 bi-weekly hours
• No call requirements; call is voluntary only
• Block scheduling accepted if every other weekend is accommodated
• Maximum 1 week pre-approved time off during assignment

Requirements

• Current Indiana RN licensure
• ACLS and BLS certifications required (NIHSS can be obtained during first week)
• 1–2 years of experience
• Must reside greater than 50 miles from facility
