Certified Surgical Technologist Job in Pittsburgh, PA

You will work as a Certified Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at Southwest — UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore. This is a 90-day travel assignment beginning September 7, 2026, with a schedule of 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (36 hours estimated weekly). Your weekly pay is $2,102.40. The specific shift times will be discussed during your interview.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions before operations
• Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment and verify all equipment functions properly
• Prepare patients for surgery through washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites
• Assist the surgical team by providing sterile gowns and gloves
• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
• Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, and sponge or suction operative sites under surgeon supervision
• Count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments throughout procedures to maintain accountability
• Assist in the preparation, care, and disposal of specimens for laboratory analysis
• Ensure all medications are properly labeled and distributed according to established policies
• Assist with patient transfer to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room after surgery
• Maintain a clean and safe environment through adherence to safety protocols and aseptic technique

Requirements: You must have a minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience. Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) is required, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. You must also meet all Pennsylvania clearance requirements, including PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73. You must meet PA legislature House Bill 81 education and certification requirements for surgical technologists.
