Surgical Technologist OR Job in Monroeville, PA

You'll work in the Operating Room at Southwest - UPMC East, supporting surgeons and surgical teams during procedures. This is a 90-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour day shifts, earning $2,336 weekly.

Your responsibilities include:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions before each case
• Assemble and verify proper working condition of both sterile and non-sterile equipment
• Prepare patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites
• Assist the surgical team with sterile gowns and gloves
• Pass instruments and sterile supplies efficiently to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
• Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, and sponge or suction the operative site under surgeon supervision
• Count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments throughout procedures to ensure accountability
• Assist with preparation, care, and disposal of specimens for laboratory analysis
• Ensure all medications are properly labeled and distributed per established policies
• Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer to the recovery room post-surgery
• Clean and restock the operating room following each procedure
• Maintain a clean and safe environment through adherence to safety protocols and aseptic technique

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC)
• Compliance with PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73
• Meet Pennsylvania House Bill 81 surgical technology education and certification requirements
