Surgical Technologist OR Job in Monroeville, PA

You will work as a Certified Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at Southwest - UPMC East in Monroeville, PA. This is a 90-day travel assignment beginning September 14, 2026.

Schedule and Hours

• 3 x 12-hour day shifts per week, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday with flexible scheduling
• Call requirement from 7:00 PM to 6:30 AM (5 days across the 12-week assignment)
• Weekend call shifts only; no scheduled weekend shifts
• Flexibility required to remain past 7:00 PM if multiple ORs are running

Your Role

You will prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. You will assemble and check sterile and non-sterile equipment to ensure proper operation. During procedures, you will pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants, hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, and sponge or suction the operative site under surgeon supervision. You will count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments, assist with specimen preparation and care, label and hand medications to the surgeon according to policy, and clean and restock the operating room following procedures. You will also prepare patients for surgery including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites, and assist the surgical team with sterile gowns and gloves.

Service Lines

You will scrub multiple service lines including Orthopedic, ENT, Thoracic, Neuro Spine, Eyes, General, Gynecology, and Urology.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Current BLS certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC)
• Pennsylvania Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances
