Certified Surgical Technologist OR Job in Pittsburgh, PA

You will work as a Certified Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at Southwest UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a 3x12 rotating shift schedule, working three days per week at $2,193 weekly pay. Your start date is September 20, 2026.

Your Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions before procedures begin
• Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment and verify all equipment is functioning properly
• Prepare patients for surgery including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites
• Assist the surgical team with sterile gowning and gloving procedures
• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
• Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, and sponge or suction operative sites under surgeon supervision
• Count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments throughout procedures to maintain accountability
• Assist in preparation, care, and disposal of specimens collected for laboratory analysis
• Ensure all medications are properly labeled and handed to the surgeon according to established protocols
• Assist with patient transfer to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room following procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe environment through vigilance for safety hazards and proper aseptic technique

Requirements:

• Minimum two years of surgical technologist experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) credential
• Compliance with PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73
