Certified Surgical Technologist in Pittsburgh, PA

You will work as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at UPMC Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. This 90-day travel position offers a 5x8 day schedule with rotating start times, covering two orthopedic operating rooms as part of a small surgical team.

• Schedule: Five days per week, eight hours per day. Daylight shifts rotate between 5:30 AM–2:00 PM, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, and 7:30 AM–end of day. The 7:30 AM shift may extend 1–2 or more hours past the scheduled end time to complete elective and add-on cases. On-call weekend coverage is required from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (two weekends in a six-week schedule); weekend shifts cover call only with no elective schedule.
• Responsibilities: You will prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. You will assemble and check both sterile and non-sterile equipment, prepare patients for surgery, and assist the surgical team with gowning and gloving. During procedures, you will pass instruments and sterile supplies, hold retractors, cut sutures, sponge and suction operative sites, and help count supplies and instruments. You will assist with specimen care, apply dressings, ensure proper medication labeling, help transfer patients to recovery, and clean and restock the operating room after each procedure. You will maintain aseptic technique and adhere to all safety protocols.
• Requirements: Two years of surgical technologist experience. Current certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC), and PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73. You must meet Pennsylvania legislative requirements for surgical technologists per House Bill 81.
• Compensation: $2,336 per week.
