Pediatrics RN Job in Des Moines, IA

UnityPoint - Blank Children's Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a temporary assignment in Pediatrics on the night shift. This position runs for 91 days, beginning November 23, 2026, with compensation of $2,356 per week.

Role Overview

You will care for pediatric patients across multiple specialties, including Hematology/Oncology and Medical-Surgical cases. Your 14-bed unit maintains patient ratios of 1:2–4. You may float to the NICU, general pediatric floor, and PICU as census needs dictate. You may also float to the Emergency Department to support inpatient holds. An every-third-weekend schedule and possible on-call availability from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM during low-census periods are part of this role.

Schedule

Three 12-hour night shifts per week.

Requirements

• Active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric and/or oncology experience
• Pediatric experience within the previous 18 months
• Completion of at least one prior travel contract within the previous 18 months (no first-time travelers)
• EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 12 months
• Pediatric discipline-specific skills checklist completion
• BLS (AHA) certification
• PALS (AHA) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Hematology/Oncology clinical experience
• APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within 24 months
