Medical Laboratory - Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist

Job Details:

• Perform clinical laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and instrument maintenance under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager
• Perform routine and special laboratory tests in accordance with physician requisitions across various areas of specialization
• Recognize test inconsistencies and take appropriate corrective action
• Call critical test results to physicians or nurses immediately and according to established criteria
• Prepare test reports legibly, review reports for clerical accuracy and clinical indications
• Run quality-control tests according to procedure and maintain appropriate data recording
• Analyze quality-control data and take appropriate corrective action when results are outside acceptable limits
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory instruments
• Document all instrument checks, preventive maintenance, routines, problems, and corrective actions taken
• Perform specimen collection and processing duties as needed
• Participate in departmental on-call schedule which requires a 30-minute response time
• Assist the Laboratory Manager in inventory control, supply requisition, and quality assurance activities
• Must be familiar with Vitros equipment
• Associate Degree in Medical Technology required
• ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technology certification required within one year of hire
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification required within 6 months of hire
• Reasoning and language skills at the college level required
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Regular and predictable work attendance required
• Appropriate work apparel must be worn and nametag displayed at all times
