Emergency Department RN Job in Carlsbad, NM

Carlsbad Medical Center seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department on a 13-week travel contract. You will work 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, providing direct patient care and clinical leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide shift accountability for emergency room patient care utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively to the care team
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects
• Manage a 4:1 patient ratio
• Delegate patient care priorities based on the education and experience of available staff
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and scientific judgment in planning safe delivery of care
• Apply knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting patient care
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• Preferred: NRP and ENPC certifications
• Fingerprint clearance required for all New Mexico travelers

Position Details:

• Weekly pay: $2,217
• Start date: November 23, 2026
• EMR system: MedHost (EDIS)
• Floating within scope and experience is required; ICU is the typical float unit when needed
• Maximum one request time off per schedule with 6-week scheduling cycles
• RTO blackout dates apply for one summer and one winter holiday based on department needs
• Any color scrubs; full uniform required
