Pediatrics RN Job in Dickinson, ND

CHI St Alexius Health Dickinson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 91-day travel assignment on a combined Medical-Surgical Pediatrics unit. You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with self-scheduling available. Weekends are required as needed, and there is no holiday requirement.

Unit Overview

The 17-bed unit contains 14 inpatient beds and 3 observation beds. Common patient diagnoses include urinary tract infections, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD in both adult and pediatric populations. Pediatric experience is preferred but not required. You will work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 during day shifts and 1:5 during night shifts, supported by 2 nurse aides on days and 1 nurse aide on nights.

Clinical Responsibilities

You will be the first to float and may float to the Emergency Department or ICU for one-to-one assignments as needed. RNs are not required to titrate drips; common infusions include electrolytes, hypertensive medications, and diuretics. The unit maintains ICU-level monitoring with the ICU monitoring telemetry and reading strips, while Medical-Surgical Pediatrics nurses apply telemetry to patients. Occasional BiPap support is present on the unit and is managed primarily by respiratory therapy. Charting is done through the MEDITECH system.

Requirements and Support

You must hold current BLS and PALS certifications. A BSN is not required. You will receive 1 to 2 orientation shifts (12-hour shifts) as needed, with day and/or night orientation available. Facial hair fit testing is required; clinicians with facial hair must pass a primary or secondary fit test. Navy blue scrubs are the required color.
