PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

RN - PACU

Job Details:

• Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and can be days, evenings, nights, and weekends/holidays
• Shifts vary between ASU and PACU units with no guarantee of hours or shift preference
• On-call shifts 0-3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday on-call
• Care for patients pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery following surgery
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and caring for patients in Phase I recovery
• Assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track indicators of stability or complications
• Apply critical care skills and critical thinking abilities in a post-anesthesia care environment
• Utilize equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a critical care RN (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• Valid professional license within the state of practice required
• PALS credential from the American Heart Association recommended and may be required
• Other specialty-related certifications preferred and may be required (i.e., NIHSS and TNCC)
• Active State of Hawaii nursing license required by start of assignment
