Medical Lab Scientist

Opportunity:

Laboratory - Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

Job Details:

• Collect and prepare blood samples for laboratory testing using skin puncture and venipuncture techniques
• Enter specimen collections into the lab information system
• Assist medical technologists and/or pathologists in performing designated laboratory tests
• Verify patient information, label specimen vials, and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Dispose of contaminated needles, blood, and other biohazard fluids or tissue in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies
• Enter patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information into appropriate systems
• Process specimens according to established guidelines
• Organize blood-drawing trays, ensuring all instruments are sterile and all needles, syringes, and related items are first-time use
• Maintain safe and clean working environment adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste, and other policies and protocols
• Assist with maintaining laboratory equipment and records following established accreditation guidelines and quality control standards
• Every other weekend schedule required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Minimum 2 years of MLS experience required
• Travel experience preferred
• Required certifications: ASCP (documentation required), BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
