Med Surg RN Job in Hilo, HI

You will work as a registered nurse on a 32-bed Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Hilo Medical Center in Hilo, Hawaii. This is a 13-week contract position with flexible scheduling and varied shift lengths and days.

Schedule & Compensation

• Scheduled 36 hours per week following your first full week of orientation
• Flex shifts with various shift lengths and days—flexibility is required
• No guarantee of hours or shift preference
• Weekly pay: $2,102.40
• Start date: June 30, 2026

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:8 with 1:6 aides during day shift and 1:8 during night shift
• May float to Med Surg and Surgical Peds units
• Equipment includes Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, chest tubes, tube feeding, NG/G-tubes, trach care, and PICC/PORT lines

Requirements

• Current RN license issued by the State of Hawaii, active by assignment start date
• 2–10 years of nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS not required unless mandated by your agency
• Professional nursing attire required

What to Expect

Orientation will be provided for each unit. You will deliver direct patient care in a transitional care setting, managing complex medical and surgical patients. Your flexibility and clinical experience will be key to success in this role.
