ED Registered Nurse Job in Waterbury, CT

Waterbury Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026.

Shift and Pay

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 4 shifts per week (48 guaranteed hours weekly)
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Weekly pay: $2,729

Role Overview

You will work in an inner-city emergency department setting with a daily census of 100 patients across 37 rooms and beds. Your patient ratio will be 4:1 across days, nights, and weekends. This Level 2 trauma center serves adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Required Experience and Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience
• Level 2 trauma center experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS, and TNCC
• Triage experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred

Clinical Skills and Knowledge

You will need demonstrated proficiency in blood product administration, CVA management, general emergency department care (combined adult and pediatric populations), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, 12-lead EKG/ECG reading, starting and maintaining IVs, and triage protocols.

Systems and Tools

• Medication dispensing: Accudose and Omnicell
• Electronic health record: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Communication protocol: SBAR
• Uniform requirement: Dark blue scrubs
