About this role
Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Rapid Response is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit in Charlotte, NC. This is a 140-day travel assignment beginning August 31, 2026.
Schedule and Pay: You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM), totaling 36 hours weekly. Weekly pay is $1,959. The schedule is set per unit needs with every other weekend required. There is no on-call requirement, though float assignments are part of the role.
Unit Details: The 13-bed ICU maintains an average daily census of 11–12 patients. You will manage a 2:1 patient ratio, with flexibility to 3:1 during high-census periods. A 24-hour orientation (2 days or 2 nights) will prepare you for the unit's workflow.
Clinical Requirements: Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience is required—no exceptions. Prior travel healthcare experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered. You must demonstrate a strong neuro critical care background, not general ICU experience alone.
Patient Population and Skills: You will care for patients with strokes (ischemic, hemorrhagic, subarachnoid hemorrhage), subdural hematoma, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling and clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis. Required competencies include ventilator management, IV starts, neuro intensive care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, acute stroke management, external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, and lumbar drain experience. Arterial line management is preferred.
Equipment and Systems: The unit uses EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun technology. Electronic charting is managed through Epic and Pyxis with SBAR documentation standards.
Certifications and Testing: You must hold current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. An EKG test is required prior to your start date.
Support Services: Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services.
Uniforms are navy blue and white scrubs.
