PACU Registered Nurse Job in New Orleans, LA

You will provide comprehensive pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery care for adult and pediatric patients across all major surgical services at Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans. You will support surgical and procedural populations, excluding those requiring critical care services, and float to pediatric PACU as needed.

The department spans 34 operating rooms across 2 floors. The first floor includes 6 ORs, 2 cysto suites, a shared Pediatric GI/Lithotripsy room, and facilities for CT/MRI cases. The second floor houses 28 ORs serving Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Pulmonary Lab. You will maintain a 1:2 patient ratio throughout your shifts.

Your responsibilities include:

• Performing and assisting with special procedures, including regional anesthesia and ECT
• Operating specialized equipment such as Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and Accuvein
• Charting in the Epic system
• Supporting all surgical and procedural teams

Position Details:

• Schedule: 3x12 Nights
• Duration: 91 days
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Weekly Pay: $2,063
• Weekend Commitment: 2–3 scheduled weekends per contract
• Holiday Commitment: Must work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of PACU or Pre/Post Op experience (Critical Care Post Op experience preferred)
• Current RN license (Compact or Louisiana)
• ACLS, BCLS, and PALS certifications with AHA credentials
• Epic charting system experience required
