Job Details:

• Work 3 days per week with an estimated 12 hours per week
• Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities across all patient populations and service areas
• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient condition and determine treatment requirements
• Evaluate the appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes
• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises
• Perform pulmonary function tests and consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions
• Assist with transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations
• Maintain patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Must be a graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program
• Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT)
• Additional certifications may include: NRP (required for certain facilities), PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, PA Act 73
• Pennsylvania state license required
