Respiratory Therapist Job in Harrisburg, PA

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is recruiting a Respiratory Therapist for a 91-day travel assignment at Central - UPMC Harrisburg. You will work 3 days per week on rotating 12-hour shifts, earning $2,426 weekly.

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies across all patient populations and service areas
• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess condition and determine treatment requirements
• Evaluate the appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes
• Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises
• Perform pulmonary function tests and consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions
• Assist with transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations
• Maintain patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
• Pennsylvania state license
• Additional certifications may include NRP (required for certain facilities), PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73
