Medical Lab Technician Job in Canon City, CO

St. Thomas More Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for an acute care laboratory setting in Canon City, Colorado. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 28, 2026.

Role and Responsibilities

• Work graveyard shift from 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, with variable night shift assignments
• Perform laboratory testing across all departments: hematology, serology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology, and blood bank
• Operate as a generalist covering all laboratory areas independently
• Manage blood bank operations using the Wellsky system
• Conduct charting and documentation in the Epic EMR system
• Execute quality control protocols through URT
• Support middleware operations using Data Innovations
• Phlebotomy experience is not required for this role

Schedule and Requirements

• Shift: 4x10 rotating schedule set on a 6-week block basis—no self-scheduling
• Weekend and holiday availability required
• On-call or standby call obligations may apply
• Must be able to work independently on graveyard shift
• Physical presence in Colorado required during orientation week, though initial modules may be remote

Credentials and Experience

• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) credential via AMT or ASCP
• Demonstrated experience working graveyard shifts independently

• Acute care hospital setting
• No dress code—scrubs or business casual with closed-toe shoes are acceptable
• Department-specific orientation provided

Compensation

Weekly pay: $1,711
