Surgical Tech - Surgical Tech CVOR

Job Details:

• 2nd shift position working 4x10-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM
• Weekend and holiday availability required as needed
• On-call responsibilities required
• Function as a member of the surgical team under the direction of a registered nurse
• Perform scrub functions and other roles to support the perioperative plan of care
• Demonstrate knowledge of operative procedures including draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment
• Aseptically set up and maintain organized mayo and back table throughout procedures
• Correctly count and account for all required items prior to, during, and following procedures
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and ensure room is ready prior to scheduled case start times
• Minimize turnover by assisting and preparing for the next case by obtaining instruments, equipment, and necessary supplies
• Demonstrate knowledge of and utilize principles of aseptic technique including gowning, gloving, sterilization, and disinfection
• Demonstrate competency in handling, identifying, and labeling medications on the sterile field
• Properly dispose of sharps including needles, blades, trocars, wire, staples, and bovie tips
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques and indications for each sterilization modality
• Demonstrate versatility across a variety of OR specialties
• Participate in orientation of new staff or students and attend staff meetings as assigned
• Complete all required safety and education training programs
• Demonstrate knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and AORN Guidelines and Recommended Practices
