About this role

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a 13-week travel contract. You will work 5x8 day shifts with 40 guaranteed hours per week at $2,215.20 weekly pay, starting October 5, 2026.

Your responsibilities:

  • Set up operative suites and review case carts to ensure supply availability
  • Scrub surgical cases across multiple specialties
  • Turn over rooms efficiently for multiple procedures throughout the day
  • Assist with downtime tasks and help train new hires

Required expertise:

You must demonstrate strong skills in Ortho, Neuro, and Spine cases, including complex spine, neuro, and cranial procedures. Total joint procedures are also essential. Experience in General Surgery, GYN, Urology, Plastics, ENT, and GI is a bonus.

On-call and scheduling:

On-call requirements include 6–8 weeknight call shifts and 1–2 weekend call shifts during the contract, with a 30-minute response time. You may be required to float to additional locations including Merrill, Antigo, Medford, or Stanley as needed. Holiday rotation required as assigned.

Facility details:

The facility operates 21 ORs across all specialties, averaging 40–60 cases per day. It is a Trauma Level II center.

Required qualifications:

  • Graduate of a certified surgical technologist program
  • Minimum 4+ years of surgical technologist experience
  • Prior travel healthcare experience
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
  • Current CST license (NBSTSA or NCCT accepted)
  • Personal vehicle required—cannot rely on Uber/Lyft due to on-call responsibilities
