Physical Therapist Assistant Job in Artesia, NM

Artesia General Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 13, 2026. You will work a 5x8 rotating schedule, primarily Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Weekend rotation is required once every 5 weekends covering inpatient units, and you may be asked to participate in holiday rotation.

Role Responsibilities

• Treat 8 to 10 patients per day in a hospital-based outpatient physical therapy setting with potential to flex into inpatient medical and surgical rehab units
• Implement individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress
• Guide patients through functional exercises and equipment use
• Document patient progress in TruBridge-Evident charting system
• Maintain open communication with supervising physical therapist and patients
• Report patient progress to supervising physical therapist

Patient Population and Conditions

You will work with patients ranging from juvenile (typically age 5 and older) to geriatrics. Common diagnoses include total joints, back, shoulder, and foot pain, and neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and Parkinson's disease.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of outpatient PTA experience (inpatient-only experience may be considered)
• PT State License and BLS certification required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• 1 to 2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor provided

Compensation and Details

Weekly pay is $2,207. Dress code is business casual (collared shirt, khaki or black pants) or solid-colored scrubs.
