PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule with call required 6-8 days per month (self-scheduled)
• Minimum of 1 weekend shift per contract required
• 2:1 patient ratio during day shifts
• 21-bed unit with a daily census of 30 patients
• 2 years of PACU experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• Experience with all surgeries except cardiac required
• Strong pediatric experience required, including ENT, dental, and orthopedic cases
• Critical care experience strongly preferred
• Level II trauma experience preferred
• Must assist with coverage in Pre-Op Holding as needed (unit is connected to PACU; no floating to other departments)
• Must have experience recovering orthopedic, neuro, general, urology, dental (adults and pediatrics), GYN, and pediatric ENT patients (tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, bilateral myringotomy tubes, etc.)
• Experience monitoring patients with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines required
• Treats patients of all ages from 8 months to 100+ years including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Heavy volume of orthopedic, general, GYN, neuro, and urology cases
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Key skills include arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition and management, IV vasopressors, narcotics and opioid analgesics, reversal agents, conscious sedation, post-epidural management, pain assessment and management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, and procedural sedation administration and monitoring
